Notice of Cancelation

It is with the deepest regret that we must announce the cancelation of the 2020 Surface Finishing Mexico Conference and Expo and related events that had been scheduled for March 24-26, 2020 in Guadalajara, JAL – due to the unavoidable Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

This cancelation decision was made after the recent recommendations by the Jalisco Governor, the WHO Pandemic Notice, and the recent State of Emergency Declaration by the United States. We also have considered the fact that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has proven to be a rapidly changing situation from a public health perspective, and that new information indicates that our event dates potentially coincide with dates predicted by medical officials of a community outbreak. With this, and after discussions with many concerned members and attendees, we have decided that canceling the Surface Finishing Mexico event is the right thing to do for the health and well-being of all AMAS Members and
Conference Attendees.

Fortunately, AMAS previously secured dates for the 2021 Surface Finishing Mexico event that will return to the Queretaro Expo center on March 9-10, 2021. To ease financial considerations that this cancelation may cause our participants, SFM has instituted a flexible policy that gives registrants the option to apply their booth and registration fees to the 2021 SFM Conference & Expo in Queretaro in a simple and efficient way with no additional fees or price increases.

We are excited about the potential of having a full list of 2021 participants nearly a year in advance and will use this time wisely to take advantage of this unique situation to promote your participation and the next event to the fullest. We are certain the results will be mutually rewarding for all involved. However, if an early commitment for 2021 is not possible for you or your company, we will work with you to find the best possible solution for on a case by case basis.

We have already begun the process of contacting all 2020 exhibitors, students, and attendees as of today with the goal of providing professional and personal attention to each of our participants to make sure this unfortunate situation that was completely out of our control is resolved for all in the most efficient and satisfactory way possible. Please be patient with us, and be sure that we will personally contact everyone, but we ask that you understand that this process will take us a few days to do correctly.

The SFM 2020 team is extremely thankful to all those who had made plans to participate in the Guadalajara event this year. And you can all be sure that we will do everything possible to build on the excitement and momentum this event had during the pre-virus days, and turn this into an opportunity to bring you an event in 2021 that will be by far the best in our history.

Stay safe and well, yours sincerely,
Team SFM 2020
